In both modern and contemporary art and architecture, Brussels boasts numerous institutions dedicated to a wide range of artistic disciplines. The only things missing were a museum of modern and contemporary art and a museum of architecture. Hence the KANAL Centre Pompidou project, located in the 35,000 m² former Citroën garage on Place de l’Yser. While awaiting the start of construction, scheduled for completion in 2022/2023, the Kanal Foundation launched a year-long preview on May 5, 2018. This book illustrates these 13 months during which, in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou, the public will be able to discover this iconic building through several exhibitions, large-scale installations, ten new works by Brussels artists, and a program of live performances.
